Cybersecurity Risk and 71% of Businesses Who Are Set to Burn

Cybersecurity Risk is definitely a bake-a-Brûlée situation.

(Ugh, really Kevin?) If you aren’t paying attention – you could eventually burn down your house. Cyber-attacks were up almost 20% in 2017, which turned up the oven temperature – 9.32 Billion Malware attacks cranked up the browning torch.  I’m really baking this stupid Crème Brûlée analogy…ok, stopping now and gettin’ nerdy.

Webroot stated that in late 2017, 71% of small-to-medium businesses business networks are not prepared for any cybersecurity risk.  That means 7 out of 10 of you reading this, if that many actually do with my atrocious writing, probably just blushed a bit.

Remember your cybersecurity risk is not just you – it is your customers too.

Just because you FEEL the data on your network is innocuous, I guarantee it is not. These days data exists on every computer, server, or NAS which can be used against you and your customers.  For example, the wrong hands having a simple list of your customers, vendors, or partners, can be the beginning of easy social engineering attacks.

Here is a little bit of advice on how to get started with looking at Cybersecurity Risk:

  1. Create a cybersecurity risk assessment or strategic plan… If you just sighed, Network Medics can help with that.  It can be daunting, we know, which is why that is part of our Managed IT Services.
  2. Budget Wisely… Well duh, but lets not set your cash on fire in the wrong places. It’s easy to do with some IT Consulting.
  3. Monitor… We help educate your staff, monitor your network 24/7/365 and provide data for us to continue to look for new cybersecurity risk.
  4. Insurance… Its common these days to have cybersecurity insurance and we recommend it for any business. We know some folks who do this if you don’t.

Well, this turned a shameless plug for our VitalCare Managed IT Services, but I think the take-back is we are here to help our customers not have to worry about cybersecurity risks.

We want you to focus on what is important – what drives your revenue.

Whether you are an IT professional, a business owner, or business IT liaison, we’ll help you make your Crème Brûlée Business Network (did it again, sorry) – and 2018 is the year to finally take cybersecurity risks seriously before you burn your house down by not paying attention.
